MLS, is it becoming a competitive league or an Elephant’s Graveyard?

MLS clubs are signing some of the most influential football stars from Europe, but do they really want to challenge themselves and win the title or they just go to the US to end up their careers? The MLS or Major League Soccer of the US, is one of the most popular leagues of the American continent. This popularity doesn’t necessarily come from the level of the competition, but from the fame of some of its players. Since David Beckham signed with Los Angeles Galaxy in 2007, a wave of elite football players have moved to MLS teams. Most of these players claim that the level of the league gets better every year and the competition is very high. However, not everybody believes these testimonies. The main reason why people do not believe the MLS stars, is that they usually move to America...

Manchester City crowned Premier League champions

After the season-long struggle between Manchester City and Liverpool to determine which club would have the slightly more perfect season and be named Premier League champion, it all came down to today, the final matchday of the season. And while it was tight there for a while, City did as expected and beat Brighton & Hove Albion to win their second consecutive league title. Man City went to Brighton knowing that a win would seal the title. In the only other match that mattered today—the relegation, Champions League, and Europa League places were for all intents and purposes already locked in after last week’s fixtures—Liverpool hosted Wolves knowing they needed to win and to get some help from Brighton to bring their nearly three-decade title drought to an end. This has been the best t...

Tottenham reach Champions League final

A single minute remained, maybe less. Maybe just a few seconds separated Ajax from the Champions League final. Somehow, even as the energy drained from their legs and the tension gripped their minds, this team that glimpses the future and echoes the past, had clung on. And now the clock ticked down through five minutes of injury time, each somehow slower, more agonizing than the last. Tottenham poured forward, pummeling Ajax. Hugo Lloris, the Spurs goalkeeper, trotted upfield for a corner. It came to nothing. That is, traditionally, the final roll of the dice, the last act. Once that has failed, it is over. Eyes drifted to Felix Brych, the German referee, the man who could bring the torture to an end. Ajax had the ball, deep in Tottenham territory. The wait was almost over. Ten months’ wor...

Greatest European night for Liverpool in Anfield’s history

Liverpool pull off epic comeback against Barcelona to book place in Champions League final. Jurgen Klopp hinted that he didn’t believe Liverpool could pull off a Champions League miracle against Barcelona, admitting Monday that «beautiful failure» was perhaps the best his team could hope for against the Spanish champions. Come on, Jurgen, you need to have more faith. Your players have shown they are capable of anything, but nothing can match this: a 4-0 rout of Barcelona when every odd was stacked against them. They were supposed to have learned their lessons from last season’s quarterfinal meltdown in Rome, when a 3-0 defeat saw them crash out in the Stadio Olimpico, but this was worse. Barca collapsed. Perhaps they started the game believing it was won — too complacent,...

Salah and Firmino will not play against Barcelona

Liverpool’s coach Klopp, confirmed this morning that neither of the two strikers  will be able to play at Anfield for the UEFA Champions League semi-final. Once again, fortune does not seem to be on Liverpool’s side. Salah and Firmino will not be able to recover soon enough to play at Anfield against Barcelona. This is not something that Liverpool is not used to in the Champios League the last few years. However, after the incredible effort that Klopp’s team have been making to compete for Premier League and UCL at the same time, it even feels more painful. This Liverpool season has been incredibly successful both at the Premier league and the Champions league and both Salah and Firmino have been a big part of that success. Is Cavani on his way out of PSG this summer?

Many rumors have surrounded Cavani this 2018/2019 season. Most of them have been about the possibility of the Uruguayan striker leaving PSG at the end of this Ligue 1 season. Cavani has not had the best season of his career this 2018/2019 season. Some injuries and the amount of goals he ha scored (22 in 29 games) make this season one of the weakest since he arrived in Paris. However, this might not be enough for a team with the ambitions of PSG, and his low numbers might be an indicator that Cavani is leaving PSG this summer. This season has not been easy for the Uruguayan player. There have been rumors of transfer options for him since the beginning of the Ligue 1. After 4 games into the championshi...
